We Have Tao Ying!We recieved Tao Sunday night, she took a look in the room, saw me and ran. Great....the lady that came with her, her teacher, dropped everything and ran after her. She never stopped weeping, she was not happy at all. After about an hour, we came to our room to show her, but she still would have nothing to do with me at all. I invited them to eat with us to hopefully give Tao some time, but she only sat on the farthest edge of her chair away from me, and would face the back of her chair, still nothing but weeping, and would not eat.
We got her back here to the room, still the SWI people were with us and attempted to get her to want to stay, but the weeping excalated, and finally I asked Thomas that we just say enough, it was not going to get better. So the lady got up, and Tao grabbed her hair, both hands buried in it...pulling herself to her with the ladies hair. It took all of us to get them apart, to get Tao's hands out of her hair. Tao tried to get us to take her down stairs ...we would not, fearing she would seperate herself from us. We ordered her some food, but she was so upset she did not eat. She still wanted us to take her downstairs...Carolyn showed her we locked the door, and I got her into the bedroom, and in about 15 minutes she was asleep. She actually asked me to lay down with her. When I got up. Carolyn had duct taped the lock shut on the door! Glad for carolyn...we set large bags in front of the door in case she tried to leave... double protection! She did not wake up enough to leave, slept fitfully. I think carolyn and I got maybe 2-3 hours of sleep...but she woke up smiling! She is tiny, very tiny, and the hair! Oh my gosh the hair!

Today we went to the cival affairs office. Very hot in there, very hot. We did half way ok, I can say we left with Tao still with us. She would not stop weeping, she will not sit next to me ....and when it came time to do the finger prints she would not do it. No, nada, no....took about 45 minutes for them to get her to do it. They finally asked me and Carolyn to leave the room, and it was still 20 minutes before they had her convinced to do it. Scared out of her wits we feel. She is here now. Our guide Thomas is here in the room also. He is talking with her, showed her how close she is to his room....i imagine we are staying in for awhile....no use going out and having to come back in the way we did about 30 minutes ago. Tao is fine, it has been very traumatic for her...she was overjoyed to have a mama and a baba...and mei mei's...but really she has wanted to talk to Claude on the phone, she has smiles...but the rest of the time, at the civil affairs office I finally put my head down and sobbed. Her adjustment is going to go along, we only expect her to eat as she will and can. We expect nothing else. Not sure carolyn will be able to hold up through to many more meltdowns :)
